The Alaska Army National Guard will provide two Black Hawk helicopters with water buckets and crews to support the Funny River Fire on May 24 thru May 26.
The wildfire, that started along the Funny River Horse Trail on May 19, has grown to more than 96,000 acres as of Saturday morning. It threatens the communities of Soldotna, Funny River, Kasilof, residences along the Sterling Highway corridor and the Bear Creek Subdivision.
