Firefighters have departed the Hadweenzic Fire (#569) after completing mop-up work. Cooler, wet weather has expedited fire suppression and mop-up efforts in the Yukon Flats, prompting firefighters to depart the area for reassignment.
Hadweenzic Fire (#569) – The final staffed fire in the Upper Yukon Zone, is located approximately 17 miles northeast of the community of Beaver. Firefighters have finished mop-up work and have returned to Fairbanks and Fort Yukon for reassignment.
Snow Bear Fire (#583) – The newly discovered fire, located approximately 20 miles east of Circle, was observed by plane on July 18, 2022. Fire managers have not observed any active fire or smoke, and will continue to monitor the area.
