Interagency resources responding to 20 acre Birch Lake Fire 104 near Salcha

10:00 PM UPDATE: The Birch Lake Fire (#104) is still currently estimated at 20 acres at this time. Crews from Tok, Delta and Fairbanks have arrived on scene and worked on slowing the progression of the fire. There are fire fighting aircraft, including helicopters and fixed wing fire bosses, that will be utilizing water to assist the firefighters work on the ground. There are no evacuations or threatened residences at this time. 

Firefighters will work into the evening mopping up the burned area and securing the perimeter. This will be the final update for this evening. An update will be given tomorrow morning about the overnight progress.

8:47 PM UPDATE: Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection is responding to a power line fire that started on the Fairbanks side of Birch Lake. The fire was reported to be at 20 acres as of 8:10pm. Multiple interagency resources are responding including four Fire Bosses, four engines, air attack, helicopters, and smokejumpers.

Additional resources have been requested and we will provide more updates as they become available.
