State Division of Forestry & Fire Protection responding to new incident near St Patrick Creek in Fairbanks

9:00PM UPDATE: The fire has a hose lay wrapped all the way around it and responders will be pumping water out of a nearby pond. The helicopter, volunteer fire department tenders, and one DOF engine have been released from the fire. The fire began receiving heavy precipitation at 8:53pm.

7:22PM UPDATE: Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) is responding to a .5 acre fire reported between Sheep Creek Road and St. Patrick Road in Fairbanks.

There are currently four DOF engines, White Mountain Initial Attack Module, a helicopter, and water tenders from Ester and Chena Gold Stream engaging on the fire. The fire was reported to be caused by a power line on a tree. The Incident Commander reported that the fire is pretty well knocked down as of 7:00pm. They will not be shutting down power to the area but crews are taking appropriate safety precautions to engage with the fire near the power line.
