The Birch Lake Fire was staffed by crews throughout Wednesday night. The fire activity moderated overnight and the reported activity this morning is that there is smoldering in the duff layer.

The crews will be working today to mop up along the edges and secure the perimeter to prevent further growth. The fire was able to be mapped with more accuracy and the official acreage is 10.2 acres.

The crews working today are Fairbanks #1 module, White Mountain Module, Tanana Chief’s Crew, Engines from Delta, Fairbanks and Tok. Aerial resources will also be in the area to support their efforts as needed.
