Firefighters responding to Lake Mansfield Fire (#113) north of Tanacross

9:30 PM Update: Fire personnel continue to make good progress on the 7 acre Lake Mansfield Fire (#113) this evening. Crews will work overnight taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and increase in overnight humidity to secure the fireline and mop up remaining hot spots. This will be the last update for the evening unless fire activity increases overnight.

7:30 PM Update: Firefighters from the Alaska DOF and BLM Alaska Smokejumpers successfully knocked down the active part of the Lake Mansfield Fire (#113) early this afternoon and will continue to mop up the perimeter throughout the evening and into tomorrow. With the quick response, the fire was stopped at 7 acres with no reported injuries. Cooler temperatures are forecast for the fire area tomorrow which will aid crews in mopping up the fire perimeter throughout the burning period.

The name of the fire has been changed to reflect the location of the fire.

6:00 PM UPDATE: Alaska Division of Forestry and Fire Protection firefighters were dispatched to the Lake Mansfield Fire (#113), approximately 12 miles north of Tanacross around 4 pm Sunday afternoon. The fire is currently 7 acres in size and burning in swamp and tundra. The forward progression has been stopped. Resources on scene include BLM Alaska Smokejumpers, Tok DOF Helitack and a retardant tanker from Fairbanks.

The Lake Mansfield Fire (#113) is approximately 12 North of Tanacross. The fire was contained at 7 acres in size and is burning is swamp and tundra. Smokejumpers, a helicopter and air tanker responded to the incident.
