Firefighters continue to make good progress on containment efforts on the Ridgetop Fire where they successfully contained 80% of the fire yesterday. Today, crews will continue to mop up and patrol the fire area in addition to removing excess fire equipment and releasing personnel for other initial attack fires. There are currently 67 personnel assigned to the fire.
The 270 acre Louise Creek Coal Seam fire has not exhibited any growth over the past 24 hours and crews are actively working to contain the incident with the support of hose lays, dozers and water dropping helicopters. The 36 assigned personnel will continue to construct fire line today while improving past dozer line as they work towards increasing containment on the incident.
The weather forecast for the fire area calls for cooler than normal daytime temperatures, the potential for showers and higher humidities over the next 24 hours.
The Parks Highway continues to be unaffected by the fires. The public is reminded to slow down and drive with caution in the fire area as firefighters and firefighting equipment will continue to be visible between mile marker 253 and 255 on the Parks Highway.
