On Friday, July 28, the Kobe Road Fire was initially reported as 100 acres. The fire is now estimated at 2 acres. The more accurate acreage estimate is based on increased visibility and reconnaissance flights conducted Saturday evening. The fire showed minimal activity during the most recent reconnaissance flights.
As previously reported: Division of Forestry & Fire Protection is responding to a new Kobe Road Fire (#297) near mile 3 of Kobe Road. The fire is actively burning in black spruce and growing to the north.
Aviation resources and firefighters are currently mobilizing to protect threatened structures in the Kobe Ag subdivision.
