Firefighters continue to monitor two fires located north of the Top of the World Highway.
Both the Wood Fire (#330) and the Napoleon Fire (#348) have received some light rain recently. The short and long-term weather forecasts suggest more rain is on the way, with occasional gusty winds.

A group of firefighters remains on site. They plan to conduct helicopter reconnaissance and will patrol the area on the ground. Firefighters will remain in place for a few more days. They are prepared to implement structure protection efforts in the unlikely event either fire begins a significant advance.
The Napoleon Fire, about 7.5 miles northeast of Chicken, was last estimated at about 850 acres. The Wood Fire was estimated at just under 1,600 acres. It is about 4.5 miles northwest of the Poker Creek Port of Entry. The small Jejezhuu Fire (#346) which was reported just north of the Wood Fire was placed in monitor status on August 11.
Absent an unanticipated increase in fire activity, this will be the final update for these fires.
