Crews preparing to be released from Tetlin Hills Fire

Tuesday morning firefighters reported they had completed their line around the Tetlin Hills Fire (#069) on Monday. Their plan is to spend the day conducting gridded searches around the fire’s perimeter looking for any remaining hotspots and extinguishing them. The fire remains at 174-acres with 50% containment.

BLM Alaska Fire Service Smokejumpers plan to return to their base on Wednesday to reset and be available for any new fire starts. BLM AFS Midnight Sun Hotshot crew will remain and continue to grid the perimeter, extinguish hotspots and begin back-hauling excess equipment and trash as they prepare to be released.

This will be the last update unless there is a significant change in the fire’s behavior.
