
As of 2 p.m. Friday, there were 150 active wildfires statewide with two new starts in the past 24 hours. So far, 331 fires have burned 589,097 acres across Alaska. Brief updates are provided for Friday’s staffed fires within the BLM Alaska Fire Service protection area.
Deep (#213) – Firefighters continued to remove of equipment from contingency lines where it is no longer needed. Equipment set up for direct structure protection remains in place. The fire is 6 miles southwest of the Lake Minchumina community. It is estimated at 22,346 acres and has not grown outside its established footprint. Eight firefighters are assigned.
Main (#240) – The BLM Alaska Fire Service Midnight Sun Hotshots, BLM AFS North Star Crew and Rifle Helitack crew remain assigned to the incident. They continued working on a fire break in the Ruby area and are engaged in mop up operations at a pair of allotments on the fire’s western edge. The fire is 7 miles southwest of Ruby. It is 24,537 acres and has 53 people assigned.
