Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) White Mountain Type 2 Initial Attack Crew worked Wednesday to extinguish areas of heat on the 1.8-acre Flat Creek Fire (#168) north of Pleasant Valley. They completed clearing the perimeter of burnable material and hotspots to prevent the fire from spreading. They called the fire contained Wednesday night.
The crew will continue searching for any more areas to extinguish Thursday. Once they have cleared the burned area, firefighters will conduct a grid search of the green area outside the fire to insure nothing can rekindle the fire. A helicopter continues to support the firefighters with bucket work, supply deliveries and any other logistical needs.
