Fairbanks, Bettles, Fort Yukon, and other areas are experiencing moderate to unhealthy conditions, with smoke settling in overnight and reducing visibility sometimes to less than a mile. Fort Yukon, Fairbanks, and Bettles are expected to see the most significant smoke impacts, with unhealthy air likely by evening.
This smoke is the result of a recent surge in wildfire activity across the interior, where hot, dry, and windy weather has driven up the number and intensity of active fires.
