The Oskawalik Fire, is currently estimated at 1,800 acres and 70% contained. The fire, located just south of Crooked Creek, has shown minimal growth over the past 24 hours.

Crews are focused on securing the fire’s edge and putting out any remaining hot spots. On the west side of the fire, two crews have continued working towards each other, while a third is working from the fire’s starting point toward the west flank. Their goal is to maintain a 50-foot buffer zone around the fire—currently, no heat is threatening to breach containment lines. As fire activity slows, crews have also begun backhauling equipment that’s no longer needed to help restore the area and minimize any lasting impact from suppression efforts.

The safety of firefighters and nearby communities remains the top priority. Residents are urged to stay updated through official channels and avoid entering the fire area.
