
Due to recent precipitation around much of the area, fire danger has moderated allowing the Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, Kenai-Kodiak Area Office, to rescind the current burn suspension. As of 9:00 am on Monday, June 30, 2025, the burn suspension in no longer in effect.
Due to recent precipitation around much of the area, fire danger has moderated. Please keep in mind that fire resources are at a minimum on the Kenai peninsula. With the upcoming drying period in the weather across much of the Kenai Peninsula in the coming weeks it is necessary for the pubic to be vigilant while burning.
All open burning, and other burning covered under the large and small burn permits is authorized. Please follow the burn permit regulations such as having water on site, burning only natural materials, have ground cleared to mineral soil around the burn and stay with the fire until it is completely out and cold to the touch.
Permits can be obtained online and at local fire departments. For any assistance in obtaining a permit, or if you have any questions regarding burning please call the Division of Forestry’s local office.
Division of Forestry & Fire Protection evaluates weather and fuel conditions daily to determine fire danger. The Burn Permit Hotline (907-260-4269) will be updated with details on wind advisories, burn suspensions, or burn closures.
