Today brought a shift in resources on the Oskawalik Fire (#122), located about 4 miles south of Crooked Creek. Southwest Crew #1 completed their assignment and was demobilized from the fire, beginning their journey home. Replacing them, a portion of Southwest Crew #5 arrived and was inserted to continue mop-up and patrol operations. Due logistics and travel time, only half the crew was able to reach the fire line yesterday, but more are expected to join them soon.

Region 10 Alaska crew spent the day working along the north side of the fire and wrapped up their assignment at a designated helispot before returning to Crooked Creek. Winds were steady throughout the day, adding an extra layer of difficulty to suppression efforts, but firefighters held progress and continued to secure the perimeter.
