Location: 25 miles North of Fairbanks                                 Cause: Lightning/natural

Highlights: The Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the Himalaya Road and Aggie Creek fires has been canceled.

Operations: The air space over the fires is no longer restricted. There is no longer a need for aviation support. The Unmanned Areial System (drone) has been released. Aggie Creek Fire is in patrol status as potential for repair is being scouted. Repair work continues on the Himalaya Road Fire focused primarily in the Caribou Creek area on the eastern portion of the fire. The repair group, made up of six excavators and one dozer, will work their way across the fire area restoring dozer lines and other damage from suppression efforts ending up along Glacier Creek near the Elliot Highway. There is 35 to 40 miles of dozer line to be repaired.

Weather: The high-pressure system with warm dry conditions will remain over the Central Interior through early next week. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible over the weekend with temperatures from the mid-60s to mid-70s. Relative humidity will remain moderate through the weekend around 40%. Southwest, south winds will be light and variable.

Closures:  Olnes Pond Campground remains closed to the public for use by the fire crews.

Fireweed covers a distant hillside beyond a dozer line on the Himalaya Road Fire (#268) Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Work is underway to repair control lines by pulling vegetative material over the exposed soil. This work will be done to reduce erosion and runoff. Scattering slash on disturbed areas helps promote regrowth, which is essential for stabilizing the soil and providing habitat. Nikos Kilcher/DOF
