Uncle Sam Creek Fire Update
872 acres as of 8/4/25
Firefighters continue to make progress on the Uncle Sam Creek Fire. The White Mountain crew is actively engaged on the northern edge, extending to the northwest corner of the fire. A dedicated squad is focused on containing the northern part of the fire and has improved a nearby helicopter spot, which is essential for receiving supplies and for any need for evacuation access.
The crew will continue to work along the northern section, moving to the eastern side of the fire and locating and extinguishing any remaining heat sources as identified by the UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) drone with infrared.
With intermittent wetting rains, no additional heat was found during the last reconnaissance, and the previously identified heat on the northwest side is now limited.

Monte Cristo Creek Fire Update
8,773 acres as of 8/4/25
Reconnaissance flights for the Monte Cristo Creek Fire included the insertion of a UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) drone, conducted infrared (IR) mapping to pinpoint heat areas not visible from the ground or air, providing critical data for strategic planning. The UAS observed heat and smoke primarily concentrated along the northern edge of the fire, which is being actively monitored.
In addition to suppression efforts, the Uncle Sam Creek Fire and the Monte Cristo Creek Fire are serving as a valuable training ground for multiple firefighters who are actively engaged in on-the-job training opportunities, working directly alongside qualified and experienced personnel. This hands-on experience is incredibly beneficial, allowing firefighters to develop practical skills in suppression tactics, safety protocols, and equipment operation, while also enhancing their decision-making abilities in dynamic fire environments. Working under the guidance of seasoned professionals sharpens their capacity to make critical decisions quickly and effectively, builds essential teamwork and communication skills, and accelerates their path to higher qualifications and specialized roles within fire management. This commitment to training ensures that the next generation of firefighters is well-prepared and highly skilled, strengthening our overall response capabilities for future incidents.
There are no evacuations in place for these fires.

Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) remain in place over both fires. Whether it’s a drone or a personal aircraft, any intrusion into a TFR forces all incident aircraft to land and wait until the airspace is confirmed clear. Intrusions are a serious safety threat to pilots and crews.
Remember, if you fly, we can’t.
