Highlights: Alaska State Parks has reopened the Olnes Pond Campground to the public after being temporarily closed. The closure was necessary to accommodate firefighting crews who were using the location as a camp while working on the Himalaya Road and Aggie Creek fires. With fire activity in both areas now moderated, the crews have been able to shift their focus from active firefighting to suppression repair, and the campground is now available for public use again.
Operations: Work continues on the extensive fire suppression repair for the Himalaya Road Fire, with a focus on the Caribou Creek area. Multiple excavators are methodically restoring dozer lines, a process that is expected to take a considerable amount of time due to the significant amount of ground to cover. On the Aggie Creek Fire, the fire is currently in patrol status, with crews scouting for areas that may need repair.

There is still fire traffic on the Elliot Highway by Olnes Pond and Whitefish Campground. This includes trucks and heavy equipment on trailers. These vehicles are often slow, oversized, and might turn onto the road in unexpected places. Please drive carefully and mind your speed for public and firefighter safety.
Weather: Today will be cloudy with a chance of rain during the day and at night. The high temperature will reach 67°F, and the low will be 56°F.
Closures: No closures for the Himalaya Road and Aggie Creek fires currently.
Evacuations: Level 1 “READY,” evacuations are still in effect. Level 1indicates that a fire is present in the area and to prepare for potential evacuation. Visit https://bit.ly/FNSBevac for current evacuation levels.
