7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222)
4,094 acres I Containment: 55% I Total Personnel: 58
8/7/25- Update: Due to continued suppression efforts and recent rain showers, all evacuation notices have been lifted for the 7 Mile Lookout Fire. Crews are focused on strengthening firelines along the southern edge of last week’s burn operations, removing the remaining heat, and backhauling hose and equipment. Pioneer Peak IHC and Gannett Glacier T2IA have demobilized, while Tanana Chiefs T2IA and North Star crews remain on the fire, checking for smoke, watching for heat, and making sure firelines stay secure. A drone flight found no heat along the southern or western perimeter. While smoke or heat may appear within the fire’s interior as weather dries, firelines are holding and the community is not at risk. A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) FDC 5/4836 remains in place.

8/6/25 – Update: The rehabilitation for the dozer line in the Caribou Creek area has been completed. The excavators are now working on a steep, three-mile-long section between Cogan Drive and Middle Fork Road. This area is estimated to require at least five days of work as weather allows. Fire managers have also been working with Summit Telephone Company to repair some of their phone lines this morning. The resource advisor is assessing the areas of repair for the Aggie Creek fire today to be able to start rehabilitation work on the impacted areas from that fire as well.

There is still fire traffic on the Elliott Highway by Olnes Pond and Whitefish Campground. Heavy equipment also continues to work around the fire area. This includes trucks, heavy equipment on trailers and ATVs. Please drive carefully and mind your speed for public and firefighter safety.
No evacuations and no TFR in place for the Himalaya and Aggie Creek Fires.

Goldstream Creek Fire (#270):

Update: Unmanned Aerial Systems continue to detect areas of heat, many of which are well within the fires’ perimeters. Guided by the drone operators, the Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection Fairbanks 1 Crew is digging out hot spots along the edge of the fires so that they will be exposed to the forecast rains. Digging out the areas of heat along the perimeter to catch rain will utilize the natural elements to extinguish them. If these areas were not exposed, they would continue to smolder in the deeper layers of duff where the rain would have little to no effect. Excavators continue to work in Little Goldstream community, breaking up dozer berms and rehabbing fire lines. Graders have started working on Dineege Avenue and Toghotthele Road.
All evacuation levels were downgraded Monday, July 28th by the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to Level 1 READY.
There is a TFR in place on the Nenana Ridge Complex.

Monte Cristo Creek Fire (#319)
8,773 acres I 0% Containment (Limited management Area)
8/7/25 Update:
Crews have made significant progress on the Uncle Sam Creek Fire, which is now 65% contained. The White Mountain Crew has been gridding the area, working 50 feet in from the fire’s perimeter to ensure all heat is extinguished. This grid is expected to be finished in the next few days, as the weather permits.
In addition, an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) successfully completed an infrared mission yesterday. The mission was to see if there were any lingering heat sources around the fire’s perimeter. The crew will work with the UAS crew to seek out any remaining areas that may still need work.

The Monte Cristo Creek Fire is currently being monitored with minimal staffing. The fire has shown no active fire behavior for several days and is located in a limited suppression area, posing no threat to structures or other values.
An unmanned aircraft system (UAS) has flown over the area to identify any lingering pockets of heat. No further suppression activities are currently underway.
There is a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) that remains in effect over the fire area. There are no active evacuations.
