Drivers traveling on the Taylor Highway (Alaska Highway 5) near milepost 110 should be aware of possible smoke impacts from the Polly Fire (228) that could reduce visibility. They should also watch for and yield to firefighting traffic.

Work finishing up on Yukon Flats fires
The BLM Alaska Fire Service is wrapping up work on a pair of Yukon Flats fire this week as the days get shorter, cooler and wetter. With work reaching completion, equipment and firefighting personnel will be pulled from both the Marten Creek Fire (#386) and the Discovery Creek Fire (#388) on Wednesday.
Hotshots mopping up Alfred Fire east of Stevens Village
Utilizing an aggressive water air assault, two hotshot crews and eight smokejumpers were able to stop the growth of a fire burning east of Stevens Village at 83 acres Thursday. However, due to the fire spotting outside the main perimeter, the firefighters will need to seek out and make sure these spot fires are extinguished before calling the Alfred Fire (#215) contained.
