Fairbanks Forestry relayed a smoke report on Eielson AFB on May 15. The Eielson Fire Department responded and a support request was filled by two State Forestry fire engines along with aerial support. Smokejumpers were sent to the scene and an air tanker with water also responded to the fire that was spreading into the treeline. The 3.6 acre fire was contained at 10 p.m. The White Mountain Type 2 IA crew has arrived on the fire Friday morning to relieve the smokejumperss.
