Notices to Airmen over the Funny River Fire

June 1, 6p.m.

Fire officials are reminding pilots that a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR), NOTAM 4/3147, is still in place over the Funny River Fire. This TFR applies to all general aviation traffic and is required for safe operations of ongoing fire suppression activities. Even though the smoke is no longer present, fire aviation assets are busy mapping the fire, hauling fire personnel and equipment back from the lines, and monitoring for any new fire activity. This will continue for several more days.

Today there were four incursions by general aviation into the fire’s TFR zone. Due to safety considerations for all and the serious implications for pilots who enter areas with an active TFR in place, please check for NOTAMs if flying on the Kenai Peninsula.
