Shovel Creek Fire Community Meeting Set for Sunday June 30th 6pm @ Ken Kunkel Pavillion

The Alaska Interagency Incident Management Team will provide and update on #ShovelCreekFire on Sunday June 30th at 6 p.m. at the Ken Kunkel Community Center. For those of you who are unable to attend, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Emergency Operations team will be live streaming the meeting at @FNSBEmergencyOperations.

Pushed by winds and fueled by thick black spruce stands, the fire has become established east of the 7 Mile Trail. The Alaska Incident Management Team recommended to Fairbanks Northstar Borough Emergency Operations to raise the evacuation alert for both Martin and Perfect Perch subdivisions from a Level 1 (READY) to a Level 2 (Set). A level 2 evacuation alert means people should be SET to evacuate. This means assembling a kit of important items that you will take with you in the event of an evacuation.

Firefighers are working aggressively working to contain the Shovel Creek Fire while providing for their safety and the safety of the public. As a reminder, the Lincoln Creek subdivision remains in Level 2 Evacuation status.
