Continued progress on the Montana Creek and Malaspina Fires: no new fire growth

Yesterday’s operations:

Continued to mop-up and gain depth around both fire perimeters. Identified and mitigated problem areas.

Demobilized 1 strike team of engines and 1 taskforce of engines at end of shift.

Today’s operations:

Northwest Incident Management Team 12 completed its transition and assumed command of the Montana Creek and Malaspina fires at 7 p.m. last night. Crews  continue to mop up and strengthen the perimeters of both fires. Some resources utilized in the initial firefighting efforts have been released to assist with initial attack efforts in other parts of the state. Additional resources are expected to arrive today to address the continued suppression and mop-up efforts. Team 12 is grateful for the hard work put into both fires up to this point and looks forward to working with cooperators toward completion of the fires objectives.
