The Central Yukon Field Office (AKCYD) has reopened the Arctic Circle Wayside. Across the Dalton Highway from the Arctic Circle Wayside and campground, firefighters are removing the hose from the perimeter of the Fish Fire #319. Mop up continues on the fire’s interior hot spots.
Yesterday’s mapping puts the Curky Fire #318 at 5,000 acres and the Douglas Fire #336 at 8,742 acres. The current footprint of the Fish Fire #319 is 231 acres due to accurate mapping. The Snowden Fire #330 has not significantly increased in size in the past two days.
A high-pressure system sitting over the Yukon Flats brings hot, dry conditions and drying fuels. No thunderstorm activity is predicted for today or tomorrow. Fire managers are closely monitoring for increases in fire behavior.
