Planeload of support arrives to help fight Alaska fires

Crews arrive today in Fairbanks to help fight wildland fires in Alaska

A planeload of 84 firefighters and support personnel landed today in Fairbanks to help Alaska fight the many wildland fires across the State. We are thankful to all of the crews who have answered the call to come to Alaska to support the work already underway by our awesome local Forestry crews!

Firefighters and other resources continue to be added daily as Alaska battles a very tough string of fires during a dry and warm summer. More than 1.8 million acres in Alaska have burned so far this season, including more than 185,000 acres burned yesterday alone.
