Firefighters in the Yukon Flats have been aided by several days of cool, wet weather. The favorable weather has allowed firefighters to concentrate on reinforcing containment lines and mop-up work before their return to Fairbanks.
Hadweenzic Fire (#569) – Located approximately 17 miles northeast of the community of Beaver. Over the past several days, firefighters have concentrated on finalizing their suppression efforts by reinforcing containment lines, gridding and eliminating all heat embedded deep within the duff layers. The Mendocino Hotshots will be leaving the fire today and returning to Fairbanks for reassignment.
