Favorable weather conditions over much of eastern and central Alaska allowed firefighters to complete their work to fully suppress the Hadweenzic Fire (#569), the last staffed fire in the Upper Yukon Zone that covers 51.9 million acres in northeast Alaska. Firefighters returned to Fairbanks for reassignment. Fire Managers will continue to monitor unstaffed fires in the Upper Yukon Zone by air, and will immediately mobilize firefighters if needed.
