Flasco (#259) reaches 100% containment, Deception Pup (#252) holds at 90%

The Flasco Fire was contained Tuesday afternoon. Supplies and firefighters were airlifted back to the Central airport via a BLM Alaska Fire Service helicopter. The fire is expected to remain in patrol status until declared out.

The BLM AFS Type 2 North Star Fire Crew will join the BLM Type 2 contract crew, the Big River Crew made up of firefighters assembled from Mountain Village, St. Mary’s, Marshall and Pilot Station, to help complete mop up work on the Deception Pup fire today. Supplies not needed on the Deception Pup Fire will be transported back to the Fairbanks cache.

The Idaho Team 1 IMT3 will transfer command of the fires in this group back to the BLM AFS at 7 a.m. Thursday. This will be the final update from the team. The team thanks the communities for welcoming us to Alaska.

Deception Pup (#252) – 90% contained with 76 resources assigned. The fire is located 3 miles west of Central and is mapped at 120 acres.

Flasco (#259) – 100% contained and is in patrol status. The fire is located south of Circle and is mapped at 7 acres.

American (#262) – Fire is burning approximately 15 miles northeast of Mount Prindle and about 20 miles north of mile 77 Steese Highway. It is estimated at 500 acres. It is burning in a limited management option area and will continue to be monitored.

Crazy (#153) – Fire is located in the West Crazy Mountains in the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge about 46 miles north of the Steese Highway. It is estimated at 347 acres. It is burning in a limited management option area and will continue to be monitored.

Ikheejik (#184) – Fire is located about 20 miles southeast of Circle east of Birch Creek. It is estimated at 35 acres. It is burning in a limited management option area and will continue to be monitored.
