The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) firefighters are responding to the Bonanza Creek Fire (#238). The fire is near Parks Highway MP 332, currently estimated at 350 acres and burning actively in continuous black spruce and hardwoods. No structures are imminently threatened; however Skinny Dicks Lodge is being utilized as equipment staging due to being within 5 miles of the fire.
Travelers should be cautious and highly aware of emergency vehicles, fire crews and heavy equipment in the area. No road closures reported at this time.
Aerial resources and dozers have been requested to support suppression efforts.
As fire activity increases across the interior, resources are being prioritized and shared amongst numerous emerging incidents.
