Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) firefighters are responding to two fires east of Delta Junction.
The Lake George Fire (#224) is approximately .5 acres, 1.5 miles east of Lake George, smoldering and creeping in spruce and hardwoods. Cabins at Lake George are not threatened at this time. Helicopter 6HX is actively conducting bucket work on the fire.
The Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220) is 2.5 miles northeast of Twelvemile lake, approximately 100 acres burning in black spruce and brush, 5 miles from structures at Healy Lake. Water scoopers, a Type 2 helicopter, and 3 crews have been ordered to the fire.
Both fires are in a full suppression area.
As fire activity increases across the Interior, resources are prioritized and shared amongst numerous emerging incidents.
