Full Suppression Efforts Continue on the Bonnifield Creek Fire
The Bonnifield Creek Fire (#208) is currently 20.2 acres, and crews are actively working towards full suppression. Air operations have been busy throughout the day, with a helicopter performing bucket drops and shuttling a helitack crew to the ground. Additionally, hose kits are being sent to the fire line to aid in the suppression efforts. As fire activity increases across the interior, resources are being prioritized and shared amongst numerous emerging incidents.
This will be the last update on this fire for today.
Update: 3:30 pm–
Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) is responding to the Bonnifield Creek Fire (#208) that is located approximately 1.5 miles east of the remote community of Gold King and the Gold King Airstrip. Air Attack flew over the fire and estimated the acreage to be 4 acres. Delta Helitack is on scene, working on full suppression of the fire.
The Bonnifield Creek Fire is in a full suppression area being managed by Fairbanks Area Forestry & Fire Protection. This fire is highly visible and is being actively responded to. Please do not report to 911.
