Gilmore Trail Fire initiates ‘READY’ and ‘SET’ status by Fairbanks Borough

Update 9:00pm 
The estimated acreage has increased to 10 acres on the Gilmore Trail Fire (#233). City resources, a helicopter, retardant plane, and smokejumpers have been ordered to the fire. Fairbanks North Star Borough has issued a level 3 ‘GO’ for Monzulla Lane, Hopper Creek Drive, and north of these roads on Gilmore Trail. A level 2 ‘‘SET’ notices for Gilmore Trail, Esro Road, Amanita Road, and Smallwood Trail. A level 1 ‘READY’ for Goldmine Trail, Winch Road, and Steele Creek Road.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough has placed a level 1 ‘READY’ and level 2 ‘SET’ status for areas along Gilmore Trail. Check the Borough evacuation map at https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/51c4d29619364d629c914a7a92c55b78 for detailed information.

The Gilmore Trail Fire (#233) is estimated at 5 acres and exhibiting active fire behavior with 100% active perimeter. Fuels include mixed hardwoods and Spruce.  

Structures along Gilmore Trail, within 1–2 miles of the fire, could be threatened if conditions change. This incident is being treated as a high priority. 
 
A helicopter with attached bucket is on scene working to suppress the perimeter. Additional aerial suppression resources, heavy equipment and ground crews have been ordered.
