Update 10:30pm
Firefighters are reporting fire behavior as creeping and smoldering, as the fire has grown to 20 acres. Ground resources are on their way to support smokejumpers on the ground as they start to cut a saw line to build a hose lay.
This will be the last update for the night.

The Himalya Road Fire (#223) was reported by residents on June 19 and is burning in dense black spruce. The fire is estimated at 15 acres with active growth driven by northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph.
Smokejumpers are en-route, and heavy equipment has been ordered to assist suppression efforts as well as additional ground crews.
The Fairbanks North Star Borough has issued a Level 1 “READY” status for Milepost 10–15, between Haystack, Olnes, and Himalaya Road. This is a precautionary alert urging residents to prepare for possible evacuation.
