The Oskawalik Fire (#122), burning 9 miles south of Crooked Creek continues to stay within the fire perimeter because of the diligence and hard work by firefighters assigned. The fire showed very little growth over the past day allowing fire managers the opportunity to increase containment to 35%.

The 64 firefighters on the incident will continue to mop up and patrol the fire perimeter with pumps and hose lays while being supported from the air by water dropping helicopters. As firefighters increase containment over the next few days, fire managers will begin to right size the firefighting operation and will begin releasing crews to other incidents throughout the state.

Smoke from the fire area may still be visible to the residents of Crooked River and people using the Kuskokwim River corridor, currently, the fire poses no threat to the public or structures near the fire.
