The Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220) is located 37 miles southeast of of Delta Junction. An Idaho Type 3 incident management team will assume command of the Twelvemile Lake and Sand Lake Fire (#292) today, Wednesday, June 25.
Structures that are threatened around these lakes are being equipped with sprinkler kits and pumps that firefighters are delivering by air and boat.

The Twelvemile Lake fire is estimated at 14,420 acres and has active fire around the perimeter. Firefighters are engaged in point protection around structures. The Lake George Fire is currently estimated at 200 acres and still has areas of heat within the perimeter. Aircraft and crews on the ground continue to patrol the area. The Sand Lake Fire is estimated at 2,856 acres, and experienced some increased fire activity yesterday, June 24. Scooper planes were utilized to cool down areas of heat and slow fire spread on the perimeter toward structures.
Ground and aerial resources are being supported by boating operations to deliver protection kits for structures. Please be aware of this increase in traffic on waterways and roadways in the area. Please use extreme caution as you travel around Twelvemile Lake, Healy Lake, Sand Lake and Lake George. Remain alert and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
