Himalaya Road Fire (#223) acres: 3,399
Aggie Creek Fire (#268) acres: 3,125
Washington Creek Fire (#232) acres: 5.7

All three fires continue to burn with slight size increases on Himalaya Road (#223) and Aggie Creek (#268). Aircraft continue to survey fire perimeters for more accurate perimeter mapping and firefighters continue to protect residences by plumbing sprinklers and hoses while dozers work to connect fuel breaks.
More firefighting resources and heavy equipment arrived yesterday. Crews worked on hose lays around structures in proximity of the Himalaya Road Fire (#223) and installed sprinkler systems. Today, dozers and hand crews will construct fire line along the ridge towards Poker Creek north of Leuthold Drive and improve existing fuel breaks on the eastside. A masticator will remove fuels along the Elliot Highway for contingent firing operations if needed. Structure protection work will continue on the Aggie Creek Fire (#268) today, and scouts will monitor where access can be increased in the rough and challenging terrain. A masticator will clear vegetation around cabins. Crews will continue to monitor the Washington Creek Fire (#232).

Conditions will start to warm and dry today heading into the weekend. There will likely be some isolated thunderstorms each afternoon. Outflow winds from these potential thunderstorms may cause flareups. No critical weather is expected during the forecast period.
For smoke and air quality go to https://www.airnow.gov/. No reported road closures. Check https://511.alaska.gov/map for current road conditions.
Level 1 “READY,” and Level 2 “SET,” evacuations are in effect for these fires. Visit https://bit.ly/FNSBevac for current evacuation levels.

Drivers are urged to be alert, go slow and watch out for firefighters and heavy equipment working along Elliott Highway and other area roadways. Expect delays and poor visibility due to smoke and fire crews working along roadways. Stay out of the active fire area. A Temporary Flight Restriction is in place. Do not fly drones over the fire area; if you fly, we can’t. Unauthorized drone use poses serious risks to firefighter and public safety.
