Crews and heavy equipment continue to make progress around the Bonanza Creek Fire (#238) which remains at 2,165 acres. Friday’s clear skies lead to significant drying throughout the fire area with single tree torching observed. Heavy Equipment will continue to construct containment lines with ground crews extinguishing hot spots around the fire perimeter.

Updated mapping on the Goldstream Creek Fire (#270) resulted in an acreage increase from 4,265 acres to 6,088 acres, an increase of 1,823 total acres. Fire activity remained low Friday, however increased smoke was observed throughout the fire. Heavy equipment will continue to open access to the fire perimeter and improve the ATV trail along the Southwest edge of the fire for access and fire containment.

This weekend’s predicted weather will likely bring increased fire activity on both fires.

These fires have impacted roadways and rail lines in the area. Please travel with caution and watch for fire crews as smoke may impact visibility.
