Sand Lake Fire (#292)

Divisions were sent back into the Sand Lake area today for continued structure assessments and to monitor fire behavior.

Crews completed preparing all structures for protection (structure prep)  around Lake George, including a structure on the shoreline that was previously unmapped. Resources remain engaged in point protection around the lake and are maintaining readiness should fire behavior change.

Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220)

Structure prep continues near Healy Lake, where some homeowners have taken proactive steps by installing hoses and pumps on their properties. A Division Supervisor traveled by boat yesterday to assess additional structures along the shoreline and determine any remaining needs.

To date, 33 structures have been prepped across the three lakes area. Approximately 16 structures remain, pending further assessment by field personnel.

The operations section has established management action points for values at risk based on their proximity to the fire. These points guide tactical decision-making if conditions shift. Incident objectives were also refined today in coordination with Agency Administrators to ensure alignment with overarching priorities.

Public information boards are now in place at multiple locations in Delta Junction to keep residents informed.

Warmer and drier weather settled over the area today, with minimal fire activity observed and only a few smokes noted. Isolated thunderstorms are forecast this evening and into tomorrow, which could influence conditions.

There are currently 55 personnel assigned to the Twelvemile and Sand Lake fires. A light helicopter remains on loan to support recon and crew movement.
