Bear Creek Fire. With structure protection complete in multiple areas, including Magpie Drive and Native allotments, a hotshot crew was inserted onto the northern edge of the fire to go direct on the active fireline. Crews continue to mop up along Bear Creek, Washington Creek, and June Creek and the slop-over on the east side of the Parks Highway. “Slop-over” is a fire edge that crosses a control line or natural barrier intended to contain the fire, such as the highway.
Saint George Creek Fire. In the Gold King Creek area, the crew continues structure protection and mop up. Crews continue to work in the northeast corner toward the Wood River to secure structures.

Pilot cars expected through at least Monday, June 30. Even though fire activity has decreased, there is still fire danger and heavy equipment working along the highway. Please drive slowly behind pilot cars for firefighter and public safety. Pilot cars are expected to continue at least through June 30, 2025. Motorists should expect delays lasting 30-45 minutes. Check road conditions on the Alaska Department of Transportation website.
If you fly, we can’t! A temporary flight restriction (TFR; FDC 5/8646) is in place for the fire area to protect firefighter safety. Drones are prohibited in this area; any use of drones will ground aircraft and may endanger firefighters.
