The Mad River Hotshots and a type 2 hand crew made good progress yesterday around the fire perimeter and will continue to work towards containment status in the coming days. A helicopter is also supporting efforts.

Due to ongoing wildfire activity, Alaska State Parks has implemented several
closures and restrictions within the Northern Region. These measures are crucial
for public safety and to support ongoing firefighting efforts. At Birch Lake State Recreation Area, the following closures are in place:

  • From the outhouse south, including the public use cabin, is closed to the public.
  • The outhouse, the boat launch, and other parking remain open to the public at this time.
