The Lush Fire (#199) is located one mile northwest of Rampart, just across the Yukon River. The fire behavior yesterday was creeping and smoldering with isolated torching. The weather forecast calls for increasing temperatures through the week which will likely cause an increase in fire behavior. There is no chance for precipitation in the upcoming forecast.

The mission for fire managers is to protect values at risk including Native Alaska Allotments, structures and a cultural camp in the area. To achieve this, firefighters are using a combination of indirect and direct fireline construction. Firefighters have completed work around some of the allotments and continue to work on others. As work is completed, crews are shifted around and will eventually shift around to the north. The fire retains the potential to impact allotments upriver as the weather pattern shifts to warmer and drier.
Today, an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) and crew will arrive to the fire. The crew will use today to start orienting themselves to the fire area and values at risk. The UAS may be utilized in the future with aerial ignition missions. Because of this, there is a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place over the fire. The TFR is in effect through 0800 on July 13 and may be found https://tinyurl.com/2maa9n5x.
The Dugan Fire (#354) is located approximately 20 miles east of Manley Hot Springs. Eight smokejumpers are currently assigned to the fire. Firefighters are making rapid progress and have hose lays installed. Temperatures today will be in the low 80’s with relative humidity levels at 30% and dropping lower tomorrow.
Overall, fire managers are monitoring 37 other fires in the Tanana Zone and will staff those fires if conditions warrant.
