Bear Creek Fire. Crews will continue going direct on the northern edge of the fire. Firefighters are securing the edge of the slop on the east side of the Parks Highway and putting out interior smokes. Fire managers are monitoring heat on the southeastern edge and using air support until resources can be put on the ground. The duff remains extremely dry and receptive to fire spread. Initial attack resources are working along the highway, able to mobilize quickly on any new starts.
Saint George Creek Fire. Fire activity was moderate with wind driven runs in the interior and a significant run to the south. Additional growth is expected through today. In the Gold King Creek area, firefighters continue structure protection and mop up.

Traffic safety on the Parks Highway is requested for firefighter and public safety. Even though fire activity has decreased, there is still fire danger and heavy equipment working along the highway. Please drive slowly for firefighter and public safety. Pilot cars and/or flaggers with 30-45 minute delays should be expected. Check road conditions on the Alaska Department of Transportation website.
Evacuation status was downgraded in most areas on Sunday, June 29. In coordination with fire managers, the Denali Borough downgraded evacuation status for most areas. The fire area and the Parks Highway between mileposts 260-276 remain in GO status, all other areas are in SET or READY. For the most accurate information and evacuation status maps visit the Denali Borough website or Facebook page. You may also call or text the Denali Borough Fire Info line between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. at 907-378-7985.
If you fly, we can’t! A temporary flight restriction (TFR; FDC 5/8646) is in place for the fire area to protect firefighter safety. Drones are prohibited in this area; any use of drones will ground aircraft and may endanger firefighters.
