The Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220) remains at 18,745 acres and the Sand Lake Fire (#292) at 4,879 acres. There was no change to the fire perimeter overnight.
Yesterday, crews continued structure protection and camp development at Sand Lake, Lake George, and Healy Lake. Pump checks were completed at Lake George, and Healy Lake crews are now fully established and operational.
Resources continue to be shuttled into each of the three lakes, with full spike camp set up and hand crews expected to be in place by end of shift today.
Aerial reconnaissance is planned again tomorrow evening to monitor for any change in fire perimeters or behavior.
The fire weather watch issued earlier in the week for today has been cancelled, as sustained winds are now forecast to remain below 15 mph. However, hot, dry, and unstable conditions will persist through the week. There is a slight chance (10%) of isolated showers and thunderstorms today, though the potential for wetting rain remains low.
Expect gusty and erratic winds around thunderstorms, with ridgetop gusts up to 20 mph. Crews remain vigilant with structure protection and contingency planning as conditions remain favorable for fire activity. 59 personnel are assigned to the incidents.
Honoring Our Firefighters – National Wildland Firefighter Day
July 2 is National Wildland Firefighter Day, a time to recognize and thank the thousands of wildland firefighters and support personnel across the country for their dedication, sacrifice, and hard work.
Established by the National Interagency Fire Center in 2022, this day falls during the National Week of Remembrance—a time to reflect on the risks fire professionals face and remember those who gave their lives in service.
Idaho Incident Management Team 1 proudly joins the nation in honoring all wildland firefighters and support staff. Whether on the fireline or behind the scenes, your efforts protect lives, communities, and landscapes—and we are deeply grateful for your service.
