Scoopers respond to lightning caused Uncle Sam Creek fire

7:30 PM- The Uncle Sam Creek Fire (#376) has been sized up to be 5-10 acres, and is 60% active in black spruce and hardwoods, and is burning into burn scars from 2023 McCoy Creek Fire. Helitack and scoopers are working on the fire dropping water, and the Helitack crew will continue to work this evening, remaining on the fire overnight. This will be the last update tonight.

5:45 PM – DOF is responding to the Uncle Sam Creek Fire located between Uncle Sam and McCory creeks, 6 miles southwest of the Salcha River. The lightning caused fire is burning in black spruce and birch with 5-10ft foot flame lengths. Scoopers have dropped loads on the fire and additional resources are being ordered.
