Firefighters responding to new fire south of Soldotna 

7:30 PM The fire previously reported as Bruce Fire has been updated to Bruces Fire (#381). Air tankers dropped retardant to box in the fire, allowing crews to start securing the fire’s edge. A hose lay has been completed around the entirety of the perimeter. All aircraft have been released. The fire is currently 8 acres with two spot fires being reported at .6 and .7 acres. A dozer is being brought in tonight to help firefighters secure the perimeter. 

This will be the last update for this fire tonight.

4:17 PM Alaska Division of Forestry (DOF) and Central Emergency Services are responding to the Bruce Fire (#381). The fire is located near the Sterling Highway between MP 102 and 103, burning in timber and brush, and is approximately 10 acres. A helicopter is making bucket drops to support firefighters on the ground. A retardant tanker delivered one load of retardant. A second air tanker is responding and the fire is currently holding. No structures are immediately being threatened. 

This will be updated as more information becomes available.
