The Roundabout Complex is now 31,493 acres, with all growth yesterday on the Moldy Fire (#279). Crews remain focused on structure protection and fireline prep. A heat advisory continues today, though conditions may begin to shift with incoming moisture and a rising chance of thunderstorms.

Moldy Fire (#279) – The Zigzag Hotshots were transported by boat to a group of allotments in the southwest portion of the fire, where they will begin preparation work today. The Plumas Hotshots continue their efforts on structure protection, prep, and planning upriver near Huslia. A squad will be inserted today to prepare for strategic operations at Richard’s Slough on the eastern edge of the fire. A second squad will be inserted on the northeast shoulder to begin cutting off a corridor of spruce to slow fire progression. Today marks the final shift for the Nulato Hills crew, who will be demobilized from the incident.

Caribou Fire (#128), Richards Fire (#251), Billy Hawk Fire (#182), and Billy Hawk 2 Fire (#191) – No changes reported. All four fires remain in monitor status with no new activity.

The Bureau of Land Management Alaska Fire Service (AFS) located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, provides wildland fire suppression services for over 240 million acres of Department of the Interior and Native Corporation Lands in Alaska.
