The Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220) grew to 24,027 acres, an increase of 2,041 acres. The Sand Lake Fire (#292) now totals 6,216 acres, growing 210 acres since yesterday. Total personnel assigned to the incident remains at 62.
A fast-moving thunderstorm brought significant weather to both fires today, with confirmed lightning, hail, and rainfall over Sand Lake and George Lake spike camps. Crews safely sheltered as the storm passed through.
Despite breezy conditions and smoke across the landscape, fire activity on both incidents was minimal. No significant spread occurred on either fire today. New task force leaders were transported into both the Sand Lake and Healy Lake areas, along with safety and medical personnel, to help support the incoming Type 3 team’s operations as Idaho Team 1 personnel are coming to the end of their assignment.

Cooler and wetter conditions are expected to continue through midweek as a cold front stalls over the Alaska Range. High confidence remains in widespread wetting rains continuing through Wednesday morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms tapering off midweek.
Scattered to numerous showers are expected to linger throughout the remainder of the week, with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s.
Crews will assess conditions and weather permitting, check equipment and firelines. Otherwise, they may remain in camp if storm activity persists.
This will be the final update from Idaho Team 1. We’re grateful to the welcoming community and the dedicated cooperators and partner agencies whose support made this assignment a success.
