7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222)
Size: 3,841 acres Location: 7 miles southwest of Tok, AK.
Start Date: June 19, 2025 Cause: Lightning Containment: 54%
Total Personnel: 144
Evacuation levels for neighborhoods near the 7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222): Residents north of Butch Kuth Ave and on Jack Wade Road are at Level 1 “READY”. Residents on Osprey, Moose Nugget, and Goshawk Roads are at Level 2 “SET”.
Yesterday’s Activities: Yesterday’s burn operation progressed as planned, backing down from a large drainage on the south side of the fire. However, due to weather conditions, it left unburned areas in the interior of the southern section. Crews constructed a handline to anchor the lowest part of the fire into the seven mile lookout route. The small spot fires detected previously outside the southwest section have been extinguished using a combination of targeted bucket drops and crews on the ground. Crews continued to improve existing lines and respond to hot spots.

Today’s Activities: Fire officials are analyzing unburned areas on the south side of the fire following yesterday’s burn operation. Crews are clearing brush and completing preparation of a handline that ties the southernmost portion of the fire into the seven mile lookout route. If burning conditions are favorable, this line will be used to continue firing operations today. Time permitting, crews will also begin mop-up work along the recently burned section near the route. On the east side of the fire, heat remains in the same locations, but fire activity has decreased significantly due to favorable weather. Crews will continue to monitor and assess needs. The Southern Area Gray Team will transition management of the fire to a type 3 incident management team under the direction of Incident Commander Rob Gubser tomorrow at 8:00 am.

Tok River Fire (#289)
Size: 334 acres Location: 10 miles south of Tok, AK.
Start Date: June 19, 2025 Cause: Lightning Containment: 91%
Total Personnel: 39
Activities – Containment efforts are advancing well, with the fire now 91% contained. Crews continue working on mop-up, hot-spotting, and gridding operations in the boggy areas on both sides of the river. So far, crews have established a saw line along the perimeter and are gridding 80 to 100 feet into the fire’s interior. The objective is to extend this work up to 300 feet inward from the fire’s edge. Overall, the Tok River Fire continues to move in a favorable direction.
Weather – Rain showers are expected to begin Thursday afternoon and continue through the weekend. The strongest winds are forecast for Wednesday afternoon, reaching up to 10 mph from the southwest. Gusty conditions may occur in areas influenced by terrain. Minimum relative humidity will remain around 40%, while maximum temperatures will stay in the mid to low 60s.
Aircraft and Drone Restrictions – A temporary flight restriction (TFR) is still in place over the fire and will continue to be until further notice. The public is asked not to fly any type of aircraft, including drones, near the fire area. Unauthorized drone (UAS) flights pose serious risks to the effectiveness of wildfire suppression operations. Aerial firefighting is suspended when unauthorized UAS are in the area, allowing wildfires to growlarger.
Remember: If you fly, we can’t.
